This great enthusiast of Bayan Art founded the Quartet in 1939. At that time the structure of the Quartet included sisters Raisa and Maria the Beletskies, Mykola Rizol, and Ivan Zhuromsky. Their creative activity began with including selection of repertoire, rehearsals, test performances. But suddenly the war interrupted creative plans of musicians. During the war Rizol and Zhuromsky worked for the front concert brigades. Only after the war, in 1946, the Quartet resumed its creative activity.
Over the long creative life the Quartet gave thousands of concerts in various parts of the former Soviet Union, everywhere representing Ukrainian musical art with great success .
First composition of the Quartet actively gave concerts for 50 years, establishing a kind of artistic record of creative longevity. In the course of time, Zhuromsky was replaced by Anatoliy Tykhonchuk, who was a Rizol’s student. Listeners and music critics enthusiastically welcomed the Quartet original art, expressing their highest epithets. One time, a famous composer Tikhon Khryennikov said of the Quartet: "Before the world this ensemble appears as a unique phenomenon. Now, I do not know another ensemble having such an artistic force."
In 1992, student of Rizol Sergiy Grinchenko (known virtuoso musician, People's Artist of Ukraine) became Director of the Quartet. Under him, members of the Quartet were A.Tykhonchuk, Vyacheslav Samofalov, and Volodymyr Odintsov.
In 1999, talented young musicians - Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleg Shyian (second bayan) and Roman Molochenko (bayan-contrabass) became members of the Quartet. In 2002, Igor Saenko (bayan- baritone) became the member of the Quartet too.
