Short historical list of the Quartet of Button Accordion Players
The
Quartet of Button Accordion Players of the National Philharmonic of
Ukraine has glorious history of first-comers that created on the academic
stage new artistic impressions. It reflects the fate of the whole
romantic generation, that extended virtuous abilities of the national
instrument, overcame the technical limitations of button accordion
and reached the new performance peaks.
Founded in 1939 Quartet of Button Accordion Players started his work
in the National Philharmonic of Ukraine since 1946. Till it was headed
by the ancestor of Quartet, People's Artist of Ukraine, professor
Mykola Rizol. During fifty years the Quartet worked consisting of
Mykola Rizol, Honoured Artists of Ukraine Raisa and Maria Biletskie,
Ivan Zhuromnsky (in 1978 I.Zhuromsky was changed to A.Tykhonchuk).
In this staff the Quartet worked till 1990.
From 1992 the Quartet played in the next staff: Artistic leader -
People's Artist of Ukraine, Laureate of the International Competition
Sergiy Grinchenko (first accordion), Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Laureate
of the Ukrainian Competition Vyacheslav Samofalov (second accordion),
Honoured Cultural Official or Ukraine Anatoliy Tykhonchuk (accordion-baritone),
Volodymyr Odyntsov (accordion-contrabass). All of them are the students
of the professor Mykola Rizol and in different time graduated from
the P. I. Tchaikovsky National Musical Academy of Ukraine.
The Quartet performances left unforgettable impressions in many cities
of Ukraine, Russia (1993, -94,-95,-97,-99), Byelorus (1994), Poland
(1995,-96.-97,-98-00), Italy (1996,-97,-98,-99,-00), Switzerland (1997,-99),
Germany (00). Swiss newspaper wrote about the great success of the
Quartet: "inconceivable possibilities, almost incredible virtuosity,
the highest musicality, clearness of playing, passionate self-payment
of musicians".
From September of 1999 the Quartet plays in the renewed staff. To
the Sergiy Grinchenko (first accordion), Vyacheslav Samofalov (second
accordion) joined musicians, that have just graduated from the Tchaikovsky
National Musical Academy of Ukraine: Oleg Shyyan (accordion -baritone),
Roman Molochenko (accordion -contrabass).
In October 1999 the Quartet of Button Accordion Players of the National
Philharmonic of Ukraine won the First Prize of the International Competition
"CITTA'DI CASTELFIDARDO" (Italy) and were Diploma of the
International Competition "ASTOR PIAZZOLA' (Italy).
The Quartet has unique musical instruments, which differ of their
timbre's painting, that makes possible to perform various repertoire,
including the musical compositions written for the symphonic orchestra.
Eager work and grand triumph of the talented musicians may be considered
as a unique phenomenon of the national culture, the property of this
millenium.

Short biography of the Artists:
First Accordion (Art Leader of Quartet)
Sergiy Grinchenko was born on 09.07.1953 in Kremenchuk, graduated
from the Tchaikovsky National Musical Academy of Ukraine in 1978.
He was awarded with Golden medal and the title of the Laureate of
international bayan and accordion player's competition "Grand
Prix" in Annecy (1982, France), People's Artist of Ukraine, and
also professor of the National Musical Academy of Ukraine, soloist
of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.

Igor Sayenko
Accordion-baritone
Oleg Shyyan was born on 18.11.1975 in Dnipropetrovsk, graduated from
the Tchaikovsky National Musical Academy of Ukraine in 1999. He is
also accompanist of the National Culture and Art University.
Accordion-contrabass
Roman Molochenko was born on 08.03.1975 in Kirovogradska prov., graduated
from the Tchaikovsky National Musical Academy of Ukraine in 2000.

Standing, with the loud applause audience well - know the Quartet
of Button Accordion Players from Kyiv. They masterly showed how can
only four Accordions imitate the whole orchestra or organ, surprised
the audience with the playing "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" -
W.Mozart, "Fledermaus" - Jon. Strauss and many other music
from classic and origin literature.

Concert had the great success and the hall was overcrowded. At
the end of each performed play audience blew with applause, which
became quiet only with the announcing about the next play. After the
ending of a concert there was a long ovation. Of course, that concert
people will remember for long time.

of visitant famous musicians. And after several "BIS" audience
was well - know the musicians having rising from their seats. High

"Pleasure from the virtuosos from Ukraine"
Indeed, the storm of applause shook the church in Bad Ragaz where
audience were impressed with harmony, virtuosity and competence of
Quartet of Button Accordion Players. All those, who still had doubts,
now knew: they waited just such pleasure from music. Familiar melody
"Dance with Sabres"- A.Khatchaturian has shown an incredible
and magnificent technique, accuracy of musician's fingers.
The second part of the concert Quartet started with overture "Fledermaus"
- Jon. Strauss. Beautiful ball
music sounded all through the church. It was the best pleasure by
music!
The evening finished with "Radetzky-Marsch" Jon.Strauss-father,
after which the walls shivered from applause grateful audience and
talented musicians played "BIS" twice.

Four "organs" sounded, rumbled, shaked, wondered with
their possibilities. With the highest mastery the virtuosity musicians
could reproduce the musical palette from the mighty sound to the silent
whisper of harmonic. The Quartet of Button Accordion Players from
Kyiv left unforgettable impression from the arts, which must be inherited.
This July concert we can compare with the final performance of the
"Wiener Philharmoniker Orchestra" at the world - respected
New - Year concert in Vienna.
